Mahmood Akbari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology.
He received his B.Sc. from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tehran in 1988, his M.Sc. from Sharif University of Technology in 1993, and his Ph.D. from TUHH (Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg), Hamburg, Germany in 2000, all in Electrical Engineering.
He has extensive experience in Semiconductor Laser Devices, and his current research interests lie in Wave Propagation, particularly in Periodic Structures, Metamaterials, Photonic Crystals, and Photonic Structures and Networks.
His academic career with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology began in 2000 with his appointment as an Assistant Professor, and he retired at the rank of Associate Professor in September 2025.
