Below you will find the lecture notes of some of the courses I have thaught in the past 25 years in Sharif. The lecture notes are intented for Persian-Speaking students. Each time that I teach a course, I revise the lecture notes.
This is a three-semester course on Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics which starts from the basics of Thermodynamics (the axioms of thermodynamics and their consequences) and ends at advanced and optional topics in Statistical mechanics (e.g. nureal networks).
This is a two semester course for undergraduate students and starts with the history of quantum mechanics, its postulates and mathematical structure and ends up with advanced topics like radiation and scattering.
This is a two semester course on quantum computation and quantum information. It is open to all Phd and MS students from departments of physics, mathematics, computer science and electrical engineering. Only in rare cases undergraduate students can enroll in this course. At the end of the course, the student is supposed to be able to follow the the existing literature on the subject and prepare him or herself for doing original research. Those who are from departments other than physics, can self-study the first three lecture notes which introdcues them to the basics of quantum mechanics needed for this course.
This is a one-semester course for undergraduate and graduate students, intended for students from all parts of theoretical physics. It starts with basic definitions and properties of discrete groups and continues to topological and Lie groups and Lie algebras and their representation theory and ends up with classification of Semi-simple Lie Algebras.
This is an elementary course in critical phenomena and deals only with the basic concepts and some examples. It is suitable for undergraduate and early year graduate students.
This is an elementary course in quantum field theory suitable for those students whose field is not high energy physics, but with an interest in the subject. It starts with classical field theory, reviews Klein Gordon and Direc fields and ends up with second quantized field theory formulation of mnay body systems in condensed matter phyiscs.
This is a short course in which we start with the basic concepts of point set topology, and continue to homotopy and homology theories, and then manifolds, Riemannian Geometry, fiber bundles and complex manifolds. It is suitable for students in high energy physics and condensed matter physics. A good knowledge of mathemtical physics and group theory is necessary for this course.
This is an introductory course in which we mainly cover special theory of relativity (Kinematics and Dynamics) but will also introduce the basic concepts of generatl relativy (Curved Spacetime, Einstein Equation of Gravitation, Schwartzchild Solutions and black holes). For those who want to learn General Relativity at an advanced level, I recommend the graduate courses on the subject which are thaught in our department.
In this page you will find lecture notes by frineds and colleagues of mine on various topics. I have asked for their permission to post their lectrue notes here. I have chosen these lecture notes for their clarity and quality of their exposition.
